Meet Our 2020 Drum Majors

The Battalion recently held auditions for the 2020 drum major team during the corps' Utah Audition Event in January. At the end of a rigorous audition process, four drum majors were selected as the best fit to lead the corps on the long march to Indianapolis and the corps' first appearance at the Drum Corps International World Championships this August. The corps will be led by head drum major and fourth-year member Collin Moore with assistance from fourth-year member Everett Shryock and first-year members Logan Stanford and Taryn Tibbs.

"We were fortunate to have a talented pool of very qualified candidates to choose from at this year's audition," said Program Director Mark Hartman. "The team we've selected follows the tradition of outstanding servant-leaders that have led this corps since the very beginning of our organization in 2014. This is the team that will lead our corps into history as we compete at World Championships in Indianapolis for the first time ever!"

Collin Moore (Head Drum Major)

Collin Moore is a student at Snow College where he is studying music education and bassoon performance. This will be Collin's fourth year with The Battalion - having previously served on the drum major team for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons - and his sixth year as a conductor. Collin hopes to build his skills as a conductor and leader, and help others learn to develop their own talents and abilities for the 2020 drum corps season.

Personal Statement: "The Battalion is a very special and unique opportunity for many that would not ordinarily get the chance to do drum corps, and I am excited and honored to help the corps to cultivate a culture of unity, service, passion and excellence. I hope to raise the bar and inspire the corps to find their maximum potential!"

Everett Shryock (Assistant Drum Major)

Everett Shryock is a second year music education major at Colorado State University, where he serves as one of the drum majors for the marching band. Everett has been a visual tech at Fossil Ridge High School for the 2018 and 2019 marching seasons. He spent the last three years at The Battalion as a member of the euphonium section in 2017 and 2018 and most recently on the drum major team in 2019.

Personal Statement: “With this being my age out year in drum corps, my time is going to be spent creating a well lasting impact for generations to come through this corps. I’ve learned who I am and who I want to continue striving to be, and I hope that I can help others reach their goals along the journey.”

Logan Stanford (Assistant Drum Major)

Logan Stanford is a senior at Farmington High School in Farmington, Utah, having participated in the 2018 and 2020 Utah All-State concert bands, spent 3 years as the tenor saxophonist for his high school wind ensemble, performed with multiple honor groups across the state, and served as a drum major since the opening of Farmington High two years ago. He currently works as a private teacher for his small studio of saxophonists and recently finished a music education internship with the award-winning Farmington Junior High Bands.

Personal Statement: "I cannot begin to properly express how honored I am to join The Battalion family for such a momentous season in this corps’ history. Joining a corps destined for greatness is a dream come true, because in my experience I find it’s really kind of fun to overcome the impossible."

Taryn Tibbs (Assistant Drum Major)

Taryn Tibbs is a student at Western Colorado University where she is studying Music K-12 Education with emphases in flute and saxophone. She also works as an Orientation Leader and Student Ambassador, and is the president of Western's figure skating club. She is excited to develop her skills as a leader and conductor.

Personal Statement: “The Battalion is a very special organization that I have been fortunate enough to find a home in. This year is a huge milestone for The Battalion, and I am beyond excited to be a part of the corps and help members have the best, most rewarding experience that they can."
