BEX CLINICS & AUDITIONS
In preparation for the 2021 season our Battalion Experience (BEX) events will be hosted virtually. While we can't yet gather together in person, we can still gather virtually and keep growing as individuals and performers. We can't wait to have you join the Battalion Family!
BEX Clinics give students an opportunity to experience drum corps first hand and learn what they need to work on to prepare for our audition process, whether you plan on auditioning for the upcoming season or in the future. You will meet and learn from our world-class staff and receive feedback to help you grow as a performer. You will also learn what is expected of a member of The Battalion. BEX Auditions take that experience one step further, as students begin the process of earning a spot as a member of The Battalion for the 2021 season. The audition process will start once details are finalized for the summer.
Virtual BEX clinics are one day events and will occur on a device near you! Clinics will be held on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Instructional blocks will include full ensemble, sectionals, one-on-one time with instructors, and time to socialize with other students and Battalion alumni. Similar to traditional in-person clinics, we will work on a piece as an ensemble to perform together. Each participant will also receive Battalion stickers mailed to you. Once you reserve your spot, you will receive your music packet and a link to join our 2021 Facebook membership interest page, which will allow you to get to know other students and stay in touch during these events.
Once your registration and payment have been received, you will be allowed to sign up for a one-on-one time slot with an instructor. Sign up early to get an ideal spot and early access to the music!

Can I audition for the 2021 corps?
Yes, we have open spots in all sections! Auditions will be held virtually for the 2021 season and will be done via video submission. Submitting an audition will allow our staff to see what you can do and allow them to give you feedback as we build out the corps for the summer. Our BEX events will serve as a training ground for the 2021 season. Participating in these events will allow you to work with our staff and learn what will be expected during the audition process. The audition is where students will be able to demonstrate what you have been working on throughout the clinics. Everyone is invited to participate in these events regardless of if you plan to audition for the corps.
Can I submit a video audition?
Yes, please fill out the form below and select the "2021 Video Virtual Audition" option when checking out. After we receive your form submission and payment we will email you the audition materials.
What can I expect from the 2021 summer?
For the 2021 season, The Battalion will be rehearsing and touring in Utah where we will perform at various venues throughout the state. The full corps will move in the evening of Tuesday, June 29, 2021 and will rehearse and tour from Wednesday, June 30, 2021 - Saturday, July 31, 2021. We will be holding Spring Training at Snow College in Ephraim, UT and will return to sleep there each night during the touring portion of our season. Tuition for the 2021 season will be $1,600.
During the touring portion of our season, we will hold free community performances in various communities throughout Utah (locations to be announced). We also look forward to performing at the DCI event scheduled for Friday, July 30th in Ogden, UT. Our commitment is to provide you with a fantastic drum corps experience this summer!

Do I need access to an instrument or equipment to be able to participate?
While having access to an instrument or guard equipment is ideal, you don't need to have your own instrument to participate. There are still ways to participate during BEX events regardless of if you have equipment available. Our instructors are willing to work with you and help you have an incredible experience. If you have questions or concerns regarding an instrument or equipment, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To be able to audition for the corps, you will need to have access to an instrument so we can accurately access your musicianship.
We welcome all skill levels to come and learn at our clinics and auditions. Attending a BEX event is a great way to experience drum corps and gain insight into what this activity is all about. Our incredible staff will help you through it.
There will be plenty of students who are nervous about being a part of something where the performance expectations are high. Everyone has to start somewhere and sometime. This is a learning experience and we want you all to have a great time experiencing the magic of drum corps first hand.
During the one on one instruction, each student will receive feedback from one of our staff members with meaningful suggestions for improvement. Everyone will leave with something they need to work on to prepare them for the next event.
You’ll learn a lot about drum corps, receive great instruction, and make new friends.
