November BEX Event Report

November marked the beginning of the 2017 season for The Battalion, as the corps completed two successful Battalion Experience (BEX) Clinics in Idaho and Colorado. These events represent half of all of the organization’s BEX clinics for the 2017 season, which will be held in Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Idaho.

BEX clinics are non-audition events that help students prepare for the corps’ auditions in January, while giving them the opportunity to experience a taste of what it will be like to rehearse as a member of the 2017 corps.

“It’s exciting to see these young men and women take the first step on their drum corps journey,” said Executive Director Dallin Hatch. “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the turnout, energy, and excitement at these clinics. Watching these students learn and progress in a positive and challenging environment is one of the most rewarding parts of the pre-audition season.”

New students and corps veterans alike enjoyed the opportunity to learn from The Battalion education team. Adrian Rosales, a veteran of the 2016 front ensemble, said attending the corps' BEX event in Boise brought back a familiar feeling.

“Going to the Boise clinic was amazing,” said Rosales. “Seeing familiar faces and new talent was an exciting experience and it felt like home.”

2016 brass veteran Elisabeth Post had similar feelings after the corps' Colorado clinic this past weekend. "It was so fun to be back with my Battalion family," said Post. "We all loved getting to meet potential members and can't wait to see them again at auditions in January!"
