Introducing Our 2017 Drum Majors & Conductors


The Battalion’s 2017 drum majors and conductors were selected at the corps' January Battalion Experience Audition Event in Utah, and we couldn't be more excited to introduce you to them. Get to know a little bit more about them below!

Kylie Lincoln (Head Drum Major)

​​Kylie is a junior at the University of Utah studying music performance on the bassoon. She performs with the Wind Ensemble and the Philharmonia and has played with the Campus Symphony. In addition to serving as drum major for The Battalion's inaugural season, Kylie is a drum major for the Pride of Utah Marching Band. She is also an Emerging Leaders Intern with the U of U College of Fine Arts.

Personal Statement: I am excited to spend my age out season with The Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps. Last year was incredible and we defied the odds. I can't wait to see what this season holds!

Andy Blomfelt (Assistant Drum Major)

​​Andy Blomfelt, from Fort Collins, CO, is a freshman music composition major at the University of Colorado in Boulder, with premiers by the Loveland Orchestra, Pikes Peak Orchestra, and chamber ensembles at Indiana University. He is a clarinet player for multiple bands on campus as well as an electronic music producer outside of school. During high school, Andy served as section leader for the two-time champion Fossil Ridge High School Marching Band, and served The Battalion as an assistant drum major for their inaugural season in 2016.

Personal Statement: "There is something special happening here at The Battalion, and I can't wait to see what this group of performers can do with the momentum from last season!"

Wyatt Gilles (Assistant Conductor)

​​Wyatt Gilles is a sophomore at the University of Utah where he plays bass trombone and pursues his degree in music education. While at the university, he has performed with the Wind Ensemble, Philharmonia, and the Pride of Utah Marching Band for which he will be serving his next season as Drum Major. During his senior year at American Fork High School, Utah, Wyatt had the opportunity to lead his band as Drum Major in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He has spent the last few years teaching students ages ten through seventeen in both concert and marching bands.

Personal Statement: “I am extremely excited to see how much our corps and its members will grow throughout the next season. The life skills and general evolution of character we obtain through our experiences at The Battalion will help us through the rest of our lives.”

Collin Moore (Assistant Conductor)

​​Collin Moore is a senior at Lehi High School and has performed with the Lehi High School Marching Band for four years, two playing saxophone and two as a Drum Major. Collin's primary instrument is bassoon, but he has learned to play many others including saxophone, flute, piano, trombone and even cello. He currently performs with the Lehi High School Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Band.

Personal Statement: "The Battalion is a very special and unique opportunity for many of us that would not ordinarily get the chance to do drum corps, and I am excited and honored to help the corps to cultivate a culture of unity, passion, respect, integrity, dedication, and excellence. I know that if we will learn to act as a team and as a family, we can achieve our maximum potential!"
