Meet the 2016 Brass Student Leadership Team


The Battalion’s 2016 brass student leadership team was selected at the corps' February camp, and we couldn't be more excited to introduce you to them. Get to know a little bit more about them below!

Kaden Osborn (Trumpet)

Kaden Osborn is a junior at Provo High School where he participates in the school band and choir programs. In addition to receiving his Music Academic Letter this year, Kaden is also an Eagle Scout and a member of The National Honor Society.

Personal Statement: "I'm excited to work with the amazing staff and corps members this season. It is an honor to be a section leader, and I look forward to developing my leadership capacity."

Victoria Darrington (Mellophone)

Victoria is a freshman at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she is studying music performance on French Horn. She currently performs in the BYU Symphony Orchestra as principle, as well as the BYU Symphonic Band. She is from Dallas, Texas where she competed in All-Region and Solo/Ensemble competitions, in which she placed and advanced each year. She also served as, both section leader and later as drum major in her high school marching band, as well as principle horn in her high school wind ensemble.

Personal Statement: "It’s my goal this season to help those around me to become the best they can be and to become the best I can be. I also want to share my passion for music and performing, and to leave a legacy worthy of the corps."

Justin McKeen (Euphonium/Baritone, Horn Sergeant)

Justin is a 20-year-old student at Utah Valley University pursuing a double major in applied mathematics and piano performance. A native of Farmington Utah, and a graduate of Davis High School, Justin recently returned from an LDS Mission to St. Louis, Missouri.

Personal Statement: "We're here at The Battalion to blaze a trail for others to follow. What we do this year will echo into eternity."

Richard Zentz (Tuba)

A native of Roy, Utah, Richard is a two-time participant in the Tri-State Band Symposium at Utah State University, and a one-time participant in the All-State Symphonic Band playing Tuba. Richard is preparing to study aviation and music performance at Utah Valley University.

Personal Statement: "I've seen how far I have come when I put my mind to it, I just want to see how much farther I can take it, and I want others to see the potential in themselves as well."
