DAVID STRAIT - BATTERY INSTRUCTOR

David Strait is the band and choir director at HighMark Charter School in South Weber, UT and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Weber State University where he performed as a member of the marching band, wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, and symphony orchestra. Prior to attending WSU, he was a member of the New Mexico State University indoor drumline and placed 3rd in the Percussive Arts Society International Convention collegiate tenor drum solo competition. In addition to university ensembles, David has performed with the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, the Salt Lake Symphony, Chamber Orchestra Ogden, the Ogden Mustangs Drumline, and the Patriots Drum & Bugle Corps of Rochester, NY. He currently teaches as a battery specialist at Gold Spike Percussion and Davis High School, and is also an active percussion clinician in northern Utah. David has studied orchestral, chamber, solo, and marching percussion performance and pedagogy under Professor Sam Bryson, Dr. Fred Bugbee, Jeff Ausdemore, and Chris Romanowski and proudly served as a member of the United States Army Reserve from 2010 to 2016.
