TYLER HESS - CORPS DIRECTOR

 

Tyler Hess is a musician, educator, and designer residing in Ogden, Utah. His teaching career started in 2008 when he took the job as Percussion Caption Head at Bonneville High School. Under his direction Bonneville grew from obscurity into an award-winning ensemble, winning multiple Outstanding Percussion trophies in the Utah marching band circuit. In 2010 Mr. Hess helped establish Weber State Indoor Percussion. While under his leadership, WSIP won 2 WGI Regional Championships and 4 Intermountain Percussion Championships. In 2018, Mr. Hess helped found and establish Gold Spike Percussion, where he currently holds the position of Ensemble Director. Gold Spike Percussion has since won an WGI Regional Championship, 4 IMPA Championships, and has been a consistent semi-finalist at WGI World Championships.

Mr. Hess is an active clinician, instructor, consultant and designer for marching band and winter pageantry ensembles across the intermountain region. He is currently the Executive Director of Performing Arts Weber, an arts and education based non-profit in Ogden, UT, Executive Director of the Intermountain Percussion Association, and Corps Director for the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Hess has a deep-rooted passion for the pageantry arts. He dedicates his time to expanding educational, performance, and competitive opportunities for young performers in the Intermountain West region with the hopes of fostering in today’s youth the same life-changing experiences that he enjoyed.
