MAX MEYER - FRONT ENSEMBLE INSTRUCTOR

Max Meyer is a native of Cleveland, OH but grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is the current Director of Percussion and Jazz at Riverton High School in Riverton, UT where he teaches Percussion Ensembles 1-3, AP
Music Theory, and Varsity Jazz Ensemble. At Riverton High School Max is on the School Professional Learning Community Intervention Team, Faculty Advisory, and is a member of the Jordan Education
Association Political Action Committee. Riverton High School has a proud tradition of
excellence over the past 5 years including many students earning Superior Ratings at the
State Solo and Ensemble Festival including all three levels of the percussion program
qualifying for state performances 2017. In addition to those accomplishments the
marching program recently won the 4A State Marching Band Percussion Title in 2016.

 

Max was recently nominated as the President of the Intermountain Percussion
Association. Max is an active educator in the Utah Percussion Community. He has
adjudicated for the Utah Music Educators Association (UMEA) Region Solo and
Ensemble festivals, the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Utah Day of Percussion, and
presented at the 2017 UMEA Mid-Winter Conference.

 

In the past Max was actively involved in Drum Corps Associates (DCA) with The
Empire Statesmen and White Sabers, both based out of Rochester, NY. At the high
school level Max was involved with the Park City, Lehi, Northeast, McDowell, Fairview,
and Erie All City Marching Bands. Throughout the fall and spring concert seasons, he
participated in mentoring middle school and high school students in the Erie Junior
Philharmonic and Young Artists Debut Orchestra. Max has also been a member of the
Hilltop Gospel Choir and Utah Wind Symphony. He graduated Cum Laude from
Edinboro University with his Bachelors Degree in Music Education.

 

Max Meyer is an Educational Artist for Innovative Percussion and is currently in his final
semester working towards a Masters Degree in Teacher Instructional Leadership. He
resides in South Jordan, UT with his wonderful wife, Stephanie, and their fur baby,
Sophie.
