JAMES BOYER - VISUAL CLINICIAN
James Boyer began his marching arts career in 2001 as a member of the American Fork High School Band. During his junior and senior years he served as drum major, leading the band to a third place finish at the Bands of America Western Regional Championship. After high school, he went on to perform with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps from 2005-2008. In 2006, The Cavaliers won the Drum Corps International World Championship along with the brass, visual, and general effect caption awards, as well as the Walt Disney Award for Innovation. During the 2007 season, James was the featured baritone soloist with the corps. In the fall of 2007, James spent three months in Nagoya, Japan where he performed with the All Japan Champion Aimachi Marching Band.
Since his retirement as a performer, he has taught and led clinics around the state of Utah, and most notably spent the last six seasons with the Westlake High School Band. Last year, James started his career as a visual performance judge working in both Utah and Idaho. James was honored to judge the 2014 Intermountain Percussion Association Championship prelims and finals.
James is honored to be a member of The Battalion staff and excited to share his love of music, pageantry, and performance with the corps.
