Tyler Allen
BOARD MEMBER

Tyler Allen was born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona. The youngest of nine children (with a 19 ½-year age
gap from oldest to youngest!), he was introduced to the marching arts at an early age while watching his
older siblings perform at halftime and watching his parents volunteer as band boosters. Tyler graduated
from Highland High School in 2004, and shortly after began his study at BYU, where he was in the
Cougar Band for 5 years (2004, 2007-2010). He graduated with a degree in Music Education in 2011 and
began his career at Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs, Utah. After one year at Westlake, he
moved back to his home state and began teaching band and orchestra at Winslow High School in
Winslow, Arizona.
Tyler is an active member of NAFME, Arizona Music Educators Association, and the Arizona Band and
Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA). He has found a passion for music education in rural schools,
and recently finished a term as the Rural Schools Representative on the ABODA board of directors.
In summer 2022, Tyler hosted the Battalion at Winslow High School for their spring training, and
volunteered for the operations staff in summer 2023.
Tyler is the father of two boys, and is active in his church and the volunteer callings that come with it.
