BRIAN LANCASTER - ASSISTANT VISUAL CAPTION HEAD

Brian Lancaster has a combined twelve seasons in marching music, beginning in 2001 with his freshman year at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, CO.  He marched trombone for four years in high school, and then marched four years at Colorado State University, when the trombones still did trombone suicides.  In 2007, after hearing about the amazing summer that that one of his best friends and fraternity brothers had with the Cavaliers, he decided to march a drum corps.  He followed some friends to Cheyenne to a Troopers audition camp, and proudly marched in the revival of "America's Corps" in 2007.  In 2008, he aged out with the Troop, when the corps made semi-finals for the first time in 13 years.  This will be Brian's third year on visual staff with the Battalion.

Currently, Brian teaches English at W. Charles Akins High School, in Austin, TX.  He assists with the on-field visual program of the Akins Eagle Marching Band, and also continues to play his trombone as a member of the Minor Mishap Marching Band, a street band from Austin.  Brian is also a member of a committee that organizes and hosts an annual music festival of street bands and brass bands called Honk!TX.  Lastly, Brian is currently working towards his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership, and will graduate with his masters in May of 2019.

Brian is humbled, flattered, and excited to be asked to be on staff at the Battalion for his third season, and to work with such a passionate program of performers and staff members to create an incredible product in an environment focused on incredible work ethic and student safety.
