Alex Hartley has been involved in the marching arts for more than 10 years as a performer and instructor, working with high schools and independent ensembles across the United States. He began his Drum Corps Associates career with the Hawthorne Caballeros from Hawthorne, New Jersey as a member of the cymbal line in 2014. In 2016, he aged out of Drum Corps International and marched in the cymbal line with the Crossmen from San Antonio, Texas.


Alex began his indoor drumline career in 2014 with the Penn State Indoor Drumline from State College Pennsylvania, playing cymbals for the first time. In 2015, Alex joined United Percussion in Camden, New Jersey and marched with them through his age out season in 2017. After aging out, Alex was on staff with the Raiders for the 2017 DCI season, instructing cymbals and visual. After moving to Colorado, Alex instructed Rise Percussion in cymbals and visual from the 2018 season to mid-way through the 2020 season. Alex also instructed the Cherry Creek High School marching band in Denver, Colorado in visual during the 2019 season. Alex was on staff with the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps in Salt Lake City, Utah until the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 DCI season. Alex is excited to return to the Battalion for the 2021 season.
