THE BATTALION EDUCATION STAFF
PEARCE NITTA - BRASS COORDINATOR
Pearce is currently the Director of Bands at Payson High School and Mt. Nebo Junior High School, teaching concert band, jazz band, marching band, theory, and more. He graduated from Brigham Young University, where he received his B.M. in Music Education. While in school he performed with the university’s marching band, pep bands, top wind band ensembles, and even several choirs.
Pearce has been involved in music since elementary school. Growing up in Las Vegas, NV, he was chosen to be a member of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band and the U.S. Army All-American Marching while in high school. In 2012, Pearce performed with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the baritone section. While his primary instruments are euphonium, trombone, and piano, Pearce has spent at least a year learning each of the 5 standard brass instruments. In his spare time, he continues to play with community orchestras and chamber groups.
During his undergrad, Pearce also learned instrument repair skills, working a season in a local repair shop. He has since applied these skills during The Battalion’s summer tour, acting as a repair technician for the corps on the road.
Outside of his teaching life, Pearce enjoys reading, tabletop games, and having spontaneous jam sessions with friends.
