THE BATTALION EDUCATION STAFF
PEARCE NITTA - BRASS INSTRUCTOR
Pearce has been involved in music since elementary school and the marching arts since high school. Beyond high school marching band, he was picked as a member of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band and the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. In 2012, Pearce performed with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the baritone section.
Since then, he has worked as a technician at multiple high schools, including the American Fork High School Marching Band, where the band swept caption after caption, ending in 1st place at the St. George BOA Regional Championship.
During his career in music, Pearce has spent at least a year studying each of the standard brass instruments, with his current emphasis being euphonium and trombone. He now works to finish a B.M. in Music Education at BYU. While in college, Pearce has performed with countless groups, including the top wind ensemble, the Cougar Marching Band, the ROC Band, and multiple choirs. He continues to play in community orchestras in his spare time.
Also in his undergrad, Pearce received a grant that allowed him to start learning brass instrument repair. He spent 7 months under the supervision of Summerhays Music repair technicians learning how to care for, maintain, and fix musical instruments. Pearce has since applied these skills at BYU and with The Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps.
While working with some of the best music educators in the world, Pearce seeks to continue improving his skill as a teacher while helping students to excel in all aspects of life.
