Mitchell Barnard joins The Battalion’s percussion staff as a battery clinician. Mitch resides in Bountiful, Utah and currently serves as a Battery Caption Head, Designer, and Arranger for a bevy of programs along the Wasatch Front, including the Davis High School Marching Band, the Davis High School Indoor Drumline, and Weber State Indoor Percussion. Under his direction, the Davis Indoor Drumline has been awarded four consecutive Intermountain Percussion Association Championship titles since 2010. He also previously served as a Snare Tech with the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps. 


Mitch has performed with an array of ensembles over the years, including the Utah Jazz Drumline, Junction City Hybrid Indoor Drumline, the University of Utah Drumline (where he served as Section Leader), Weber State Indoor Percussion, the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. While with the Troopers, Mitch had the privilege of studying under renowned educators David Reeves, Kevin Welborn, Matt Little, Chris Grant, Nick Molenda, and Derek Fields.


Mitch has also served as guest clinician for several area percussion ensembles and was the Battery Percussion Clinician for the 2012 Utah Music Educator’s Association Summer Marching Band Clinic.
