KARA COCKERHAM - GUARD INSTRUCTOR

Kara Cockerham was born and raised in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. She has been involved in the colorguard world since the fall of 2006 as a performer, instructor, and designer. After graduating from Joshua High School in 2012 she continued her colorguard experience by becoming the director of Maypearl High School Colorguard, where she stayed for several years for their marching and winter seasons. Within her time there she also gained experience by working as a technician at numerous other schools.

Kara also grew as a performer after high school by auditioning for Black Gold Independent World where she has been a performing member for the winter seasons of 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. She also performed in the 2014 DCI season with the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.

As of today, she has graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BA in psychology and has returned to Joshua High School as the colorguard instructor. With this being her first season teaching in DCI, Kara is excited to contribute into the activity and looks forward to a bright future ahead with the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps.
