ANDREW WOOD - BRASS INSTRUCTOR

Andrew Wood has been involved with the marching arts for over 20 years. In his earlier marching years,
Andrew performed with Livermore High School Marching Band, the Weber State University Marching
Band (as Drum Major), and the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps where he served two seasons as Lead
Trumpet and three seasons as Head Drum Major for the Blue Devils “B” Drum and Bugle Corps. As
drum major, he helped lead BDB from a sixth-place finals position to achieving their first ever Drum
Corps International World Champion title in an undefeated season in 2009.

Andrew’s teaching career began as a Visual Caption Consultant for Livermore High School in 2004.
Since that time, he has also served as visual Consultant for several high schools in California and in Utah.
In 2007, Andrew took a position with the Blue Devils “C” Drum and Bugle Corps as Visual Concept and
Marching Instructor as well as a Brass Hornline Instructor. He has also served as Marching and Visual
Concept Instructor for the Blue Devils “B” Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010, helping them win their
second DCI World Champion title, the DCI Open Class Visual Performance and General Effect Titles as
well as the DCI Fan Network Choice Award. In 2011, Andrew took the position of Visual Caption Head
with Weber State Indoor Percussion and helped them win back-to-back Outstanding Visual Caption
awards at the Intermountain Percussion Association Championships. Andrew can also be credited with
training the 2010 Drum Corps International Drum Majors of the Year for both Open and World Class.

After securing two Drum Corps International World Champion titles (BDB 2009 and 2010), Andrew
moved to Utah to further study music education at Weber State University. Once there, Andrew used
Utah as a base to extend his music repertoire. Having performed with several different Utah groups,
including the Weber State orchestras, wind ensemble, and jazz band, Chamber Orchestra Ogden, and
others, in 2016, he became an arranger and performing member of the High West Music ensemble. After
his time at Weber State, Andrew performed with several professional wind ensembles, orchestras, and
ballet companies and, most recently, was a high school percussion director.

Andrew is a proud member of The Battalion education team and is excited to continue working with The
Battalion. Happy to contribute his experience and knowledge, he is looking forward to another incredible
year.
